Martin Orrom

Martin Orrom is a forestry expert who joined the Forestry Commission in 1953. He discussed his career and his contributions to heritage interpretation. The interview highlights the relationship between forestry, recreation and interpretation that developed over the course of his career. He highlights the introduction of nature trails in Exeter and Grizedale Forests and his work on the Forest of Dean Sculpture Trail. He also reflects on his role as Secretary in the early days of the Society for the Interpretation of Britain’s Heritage (SIBH, now AHI).
