Norfolk County Council (NCC) and the Broads Authority is seeking a contractor to design, manufacture and install a large outdoor display area for the Broads National Park on a hard-standing area in Norwich City centre. The display will be unstaffed and permanently open to all for a period of 11 months from 18 October 2021. The area will also be used to host events during that time.
The ambition is to create an exhibition area that will be open to public from 18 October 2021 to 25 September 2022 bringing the Broads National Park into the City Centre. Whilst being an attraction in its own right it will also inspire people to explore the Broads throughout the year by showcasing the huge wealth of cultural and natural heritage within the National Park whilst telling the story of the link between the Broads and the growth of Norwich and Norfolk.
The display will have significant visual impact and exploit the full potential of this high footfall area of the City Centre. It will incorporate a giant map on the ground, interpretation and information panels and an element of shelter and shade.
All elements of the display must be capable of withstanding 9 months of continual use with the minimum of maintenance.
We are seeking a contractor to design, produce and install the displays in collaboration with the Broads Authority. The contractor should also be familiar with planning, accessibility and health and safety regulations regarding such displays and will be required to assist with the application for relevant permissions.
The appointed consultant(s) will be responsible for:
- Project planning and reporting
- Design of each element of the display area – ground, display panels, shelter and lighting. This will require consultation with the Broads Authority and other partners to ensure narrative and brand guidelines are followed
- Preparation of planning / advertising consent applications
- Supervising and managing installation
- Cost effective procurement of all elements within budget and timeline
- Manage the design, production and installation of the facility by 18 October 2021
The contract is inclusive of all contractor resource as well as the display design, production and installation / dismantling costs to a maximum contract value of £45,000 inclusive of all costs.
This project is funded by EXPERIENCE - an ambitious, €23.3 million 3-year project led by Norfolk County Council which aims to deliver innovative and sustainable growth via a new tourism strategy.
