AHI Changes to membership

For the last year or so, AHI has been exploring whether “Full Membership” truly reflects the significance of achieving this level within our profession. At our AGM in October, members voted to rename Full Membership as Accredited, recognising the skill, commitment and experience it represents.

As part of this decision, we also agreed to revise our wider membership structure. Accreditation and Fellowship will now be recognised as stages in an individual’s professional development, rather than forms of membership. Applicants for either process will pay a one-off administration fee:

  • Accreditation: £50
  • Fellowship: £75

From 1 December, AHI will introduce a new membership scheme with two categories for individuals:

  • Individual: £71
  • Concessionary (students, unwaged, retired): £38

Corporate membership fees will remain unchanged.

Members also approved a constitutional change at the AGM, reducing the grace period for unpaid subscriptions from three months to one month. This means that if a subscription is not paid within one calendar month of the due date, membership benefits will cease.

We, the trustees, believe this refreshed approach to membership and professional development brings clearer pathways, fairer processes and stronger value for everyone within AHI.As we move towards launching the new AHI website, please bear with us during this transition period. The current site still displays the existing membership structure, and it will take a little time for everything to align. Until the new website is live, we’ll take a flexible approach to the rollout of the updated membership structure. Thank you for your patience while these changes take effect.
