Committee Nominations 2023
The following AHI members have been nominated as members of the Executive Committee – proposers are shown in brackets after their names. Their personal statements are included.
Jackie Lee MAHI (Bill Bevan MAHI) is standing for the position of Chair and second term on the Committee.
From the experience I have gained as Chair of the Awards Group since 2021, my previous involvement as site and panel judge and as a Trustee for the last three years. I feel ready to put myself forward as Chair of the Association. My work with the Awards demonstrates that I have the key skill set and qualities required to be Chair of this dynamic organisation.
As well as my service to AHI, my twenty plus years of experience within the profession gives me an excellent insight on how the art of interpretation is developing as we move towards our celebration of 50 years of existence.
I would welcome the opportunity to begin our journey towards our centenary.
Eric Langham FAHI (Beth Môrafon MAHI) is standing for re-election to the position of Vice-Chair and second term on the Committee.
I am excited to have this opportunity to continue being an AHI trustee. The AHI ethos and its membership shares my passion for heritage. Having spent twenty years guiding Barker Langham into a world leading interpretive practice now is an ideal time for me to support the future of our profession. As a trustee I will continue to be deeply committed to increasing membership, building partnerships and working on AHI’s positioning, communications, fundraising, national representation and global reach.
Barbara Stella Acan (Jim Broughton) is standing for a first term as Trustee.
I am a trained architect with a passion for interpretive design. As Bid Manager for museum designers Event, I support our team in winning inspiring projects across the heritage sector that help our clients deliver positive social and cultural impact.
I am a passionate champion for inclusion in the built environment professions. Since 2015 have been a mentor for Kingston University’s Beyond Barriers Scheme, helping students from under-represented areas of society develop career skills and confidence in STEMbased industries. I would relish the opportunity to continue this advocacy in the cultural landscape. I believe there is a chance for AHI to engage a trustee who can represent the UK’s mixed communities, who can offer guidance in creating meaningful engagement with under-represented communities, and who can offer advice as a black woman, a mentor, a designer, and a procurement professional.
Beth Môrafon is standing down from the position of Chair but will continue as a Trustee for the remaining year of her three-year appointment. It is expected that Chris Walker will be co-opted onto the Committee for a second term at the next Trustee meeting.
