The Abbey of St Edmund: A Millennium of English History in West Suffolk project has recently been awarded a Development Stage Heritage Grant by the National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF). The main elements of the project are the conservation of the highly vulnerable ruins of the Abbey of St Edmund, the development of a Visitor Centre facing a major public space in Bury St Edmunds and the improvement and extension of a network of footpaths between them.

The deadline for submissions is 12.00 noon on Friday 30 August and the indicative budget is £30,000 not including VAT. Work will need to be undertaken between September 2024 and September 2025 to feed into the Delivery Stage Heritage Grant Application to NLHF in February 2026.
