Working as a freelance interpreter can be quite isolating. AHI gives me colleagues. It’s great to connect with others who can identify with both the opportunities and challenges I face in my daily practice. Networking with them offers me a sounding board, inspiring ideas and even sometimes leads to new projects.

Being a member of the AHI is a great fit for PUSHED because it connects us with professionals who share a passion for bringing stories to life. It helps us stay in touch with best practice in interpretation, strengthens our understanding of how audiences engage with heritage, and opens the door to meaningful collaborations. Most importantly, it supports our commitment to creating animations that make complex or historic subjects clear, engaging, and memorable.

Dave Meadows Managing Director – PUSHED

AHI membership means being part of an interpretation family. It’s all about not having to explain what I do; connecting with people as passionate as me about sharing great stories; and coming together to exchange ideas, spark inspiration, celebrate best practice and have a good laugh! As a freelancer, having access to this welcoming and wise community is invaluable.

Jo Scott Heritage Engagement Consultant

The AHI has supported me in a number of ways. Through the conferences and online seminars, I have learned about a wide range of inspiring projects which have given me ideas for my own work. The best practice guidelines have been a great place to start when planning a new project. The AHI is such a welcoming organisation, everyone is willing to share their experience and expertise.
