Iona Keen
“It's one of the most inclusive fields, I think. […] I'm going to go and say it's the most inclusive field in the heritage sector.”
Iona Keen
Iona Keen is an AHI Fellow and Chair of the South West Federation of Museums & Art Galleries. Her entry into the interpretation field came through producing multilingual audio guides for major clients including the British Museum and the Tate galleries, where she developed storytelling skills and an audience focused approach. Going on to become Interpretation Manager at the British Museum, she co-led major exhibition projects, emphasising quality audience research and collaboration between curators, designers, and interpreters. As a freelance consultant and, more recently, in her role as Head of Learning and Interpretation at English Heritage, Iona has championed people led storytelling through collaboration and community consultation.
