The AHI is looking for a new Treasurer

Are you interested in becoming an AHI Trustee? AHI is looking to co-opt a new trustee to join the committee and take on the duties of Treasurer.

As an AHI Trustee, you have the exciting opportunity to direct the strategic development of AHI during your term. Being a Trustee is a rewarding position. You will help to shape and support the profession of heritage interpretation in the UK and Ireland.

The committee represents a diverse range of individuals, each of whom has a different set of skills and involvement in interpretation. Each Trustee is expected to meet for at least three committee meetings per year, join one of the working sub-groups and take on an active role in one or more area. Our work is conducted within the context of the current Forward Plan, developed and refreshed by Trustees. This work also contributes to your continuing professional development.

Specifically, we are looking for a treasurer to help once we have become a Charitable Incorporated Organisation, moving from its current status as Unincorporated Charity. This change will happen from 1 April 2019.

The treasurer is part of the operations group, which also consists of Chair (Jim Mitchell), Vice Chair (Suzanna Jones) and Secretary (Kate Lindley).

The treasurer will assist the committee by supporting our administrator in overseeing our accounts, with the assistance of our Accountants (William Giles Limited).

Specifically, the treasurer will take the lead at board level on

  • making sure the CIO keeps proper accounts
  • reviewing the CIO’s financial performance
  • reviewing policies for finance and investment
  • ensuring that the CIO has robust and effective financial controls in place
  • liaising with finance staff and with the charity’s independent examiner or auditor
  • reporting on financial matters to AHI members

Trustees are appointed / elected for three years, but we are interested in hearing from those who might wish to become our treasurer for a shorter period too.

Please email the office admin@ahi.org.uk to find out more to arrange an informal discussion about the position with the Chair.

Please note that you, must be current individual AHI members (Student, Associate, Full, Fellow or Honorary) or the nominated representative of a Corporate AHI member.

If you would like any further information, please contact the office by email admin@ahi.org.uk or telephone 01795 346560.
