The Canal & River Trust is currently developing a list of preferred suppliers that can provide specialist interpretive services.
We are looking for interpretation specialists to support the development and delivery of new interpretation:
- Across the canal network in England and Wales – we’d like our list of suppliers to be diverse, have knowledge of and reflect the areas covered by our network
- That is co-created – we are keen to have suppliers that can support us to work with audiences that creates creative, meaningful and excellent interpretation
- That is bi-lingual – we are looking for interpreters in Wales who are able to support the production of bi-lingual interpretation
The Trust is currently seeking applications from interpretive writers and designers who are looking to be included on the Preferred Interpretive Supplier List.
By being added to this list you will be required to:
- Adhere to The Trust’s brand guidance and tone of voice
- Work with branded templates
- Follow The Trust’s guidelines on interpretation (currently in development)
- Work with colleagues, volunteers or other Trust appointed contractors to deliver services
- Waive copyright/intellectual property for work undertaken as part of a project/commission – the implications of this will be assessed on a project-by-project basis and on the basis of services provided
You will also be required to:
- Comply with statutory obligations under the Equality Act 2010 ensuring that you do not discriminate on the grounds of: Race Disability Gender Age Sexual orientation religious beliefs Pregnancy/Maternity Gender reassignment
- Comply with the Modern Slavery Act 2015
- Comply with the Trusts environmental policies
- Comply with the Trusts GDPR policy
- Have a minimum public liability insurance of 1million, a higher level of insurance may be required on occasion and this will be assessed project by project basis
To be considered for inclusion on either list we require you to complete the relevant short application form and provide case studies. Following review of these forms we will let you know if your application for inclusion on the list has been accepted.

- Your information will be added to The Trust’s Preferred Interpretive Supplier List and referred to for consideration in inviting you to tender/quote for any requirements that we may have. Please note that inclusion on the list does not infer or guarantee any works or services.
- Your information will be stored and used by The Trust when shortlisting for potential work opportunities complying with the Trust GDPR policy. This information will be reviewed after three years and consent to retain your information will be obtained at each review. You can withdraw your consent at any time and your information will be destroyed.
