November 9, 2018HURRY the 31 October deadline for applying to be a judge for the AHI 2019 Discover Heritage Awards is fast approaching!
Planning is already under way for the next series of the Discover Heritage Awards, which will open for entry in January 2019 and be awarded at the ceremony at our annual conference in October.
Full details can be found in the (very short!) application forms [AHI Awards site judges application form or Awards Judging Panel Call and Brief], but here’s a summary of how you can get involved.
INTERESTED IN JOINING THE JUDGING PANEL?
We are looking for four Full (MAHI) or Fellow (FAHI) members from England, Scotland, Wales and the island of Ireland to join the Awards Judging Panel for 2019 and 2021. Working with the Chair, the panel’s tasks are to shortlist entries in spring, then choose the winners in late summer based on the site judges reports.
INTERESTED IN BECOMING A SITE JUDGE?
We are also looking for a team of site judges, who will visit the shortlisted sites during the summers of 2019 and 2021. If you are an experienced interpreter with Full (MAHI) or Fellow (MAHI) membership, you can apply to be a mentor site judge. We are also looking for mentee site judges, who are new to interpretation and would benefit from working closely with more experienced interpreters to assess real projects at real sites. Mentees’ experience will also count towards full AHI membership.
Being a panel or site judge is a great opportunity for free training (in April 2019), CPD and networking, as well as a chance to experience and assess exciting and innovative interpretive projects with colleagues. We ask that you give time freely, but AHI will train and support you throughout the process, and reimburse all reasonable travel expenses.
Please email admin@ahi.org.uk for further information.
