AHI Full Membership Panel – call for volunteers

AHI wants all heritage interpreters to be recognised as professionals. Full Member status helps raise the profile of heritage interpreters and the field of interpretation as a profession. AHI members can be awarded Full Membership status if they have spent a minimum of three years working in a heritage interpretation role and completed a Full Membership application which is then peer reviewed.

The AHI is looking for two/three volunteers who would be interested in joining its existing Full Membership Panel. This peer-review panel is responsible for overseeing and managing the Full Membership application process and appraising, approving and advising applicants. Each application is reviewed against established criteria detailed in the Applicants Guide for Full Membership.

Each volunteer will be supported by current panel members and trained to appraise the applications. By recruiting more members to the current panel this will allow greater flexibility and sharing of work-load.

 Responsibilities (as part of the Full Membership Panel):

  • Work closely with other members of the Full Membership Panel to decide on the outcome of each Full Member application;
  • Use the Applicants’ Guide for Full Membership criteria to assess applications;
  • Work effectively to ensure that applicants are approved/advised in a timely manner (turnaround is typically 2-3 weeks);
  • Support and promote AHI’s aim to encourage the Association’s members to become full members.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience:

  • Ability to work independently to tight deadlines;
  • Ability to follow guidance and adhere carefully to established procedures;
  • Proficient computer skills (including MS Office, Outlook and internet browsers);
  • Ability to work with others;
  • Demonstrate a broad experience of interpretation;
  • Be a Full Member of AHI, or working towards Full Membership.

To apply, please submit a brief covering letter outlining any relevant experience and your key ambitions for the role.

Closing date: Friday 21 December 2018, expressions of interest to be sent to:
